EASY Guide (Engaging And Supporting Youth)

in Partnership Broker

Now Launched!! EASY Guide

Engaging And Supporting Youth

EASY Guide, meaning Engaging And Supporting Youth, was launched by Minister for Education, and Member for Murrumbidgee, the Hon Adrian Piccoli on August 18th. Held at Griffith Regional Theatre, the official Regional Riverina launch was attended by many School Principals or representatives, as well as Service Providers listed in EASY Guide. (See photos here)

EASY Guide is a quick reference guide for school welfare staff to assist students who are experiencing difficulties, enabling them to quickly and easily contact relevant service providers across the wider Riverina region. It covers Education, Family, Health, Training and Employment connections.

GetSet Partnership Brokers compiled the EASY Guide 2011 for the Riverina region (17) in collaboration with the NSW Department of Education and Communities - Riverina Region - Griffith office (previously Department of Education and Training); Griffith City Council, and Youth Connections.

Region 17 includes towns bordered (broadly speaking) by Coleambally, Leeton, Griffith, Hillston, Lake Cargelligo, West Wyalong, Ardlethan and Narrandera and all within that radius.

Schools were given a hard copy of EASY Guide at the Launch, but schools that did not receive theirs, will soon be visited by Partnership Brokers and given one.

Keeping EASY Guide Current

EASY Guide can be accessed here, and will be updated quarterly. If you know a Service Provider who should be listed, please refer them to the Service Provider Form or email us at admin@getset.org.au. Similarly, if you are a SCHOOL, or a SERVICE PROVIDER and your DETAILS CHANGE, please fill out the same form with the revised details. The EASY Guide is only as good as the information received, and it can only be kept up to date with YOUR help.

Feed-back

We’d love to hear from you if you have any suggestions about improving EASY Guide, or just to find how you found navigating it etc. Please respond with this form, or simply email admin@getset.org.au.

You are invited to attend the first official event for Waste Not Want Not!

On Monday the 23rd of January 2012, the Waste Not Want Not group will be holding their first official event!

Waste Not Want Not

in Partnership Broker

Waste Not Want Not (WNWN) is an innovative concept that has been a true Community Partnership in Hillston  (Carrathool Shire).  Due to the large volume of food wastage, WNWN was developed in order to save produce which was deemed unmarketable due to minor factors such as weight and colour, and send it to Foodbank, Sydney.  From here it is then distributed to 500 NSW Charities which run soup kitchens or distribute the food to people requiring assistance. Due to its success, WNWN decided to expand to Leeton. The initiative will encourage interaction between the Schools, Businesses and Community.

Pre-Apprenticeship Courses

GetSet Inc in partnership with Regional Employment and Training Services (RETS) and TAFE NSW - Riverina Institute are pleased to confirm that due to recent funding, commencing in 2012 TAFE will be offering free Pre-Apprenticeship Courses to those aged 15-20.

The LYNKS Program - What is it?

in The LYNKS Program

The LYNKS Program is an innovative workplace-based-learning program for Year 10 at-risk students at the four local high schools who may be disengaged with their schooling and wishing to consider other options such as entering the workforce to acquire a trade or working in such areas as retail, hospitality or business administration.

Participating students receive on-the-job training one day a week over a twenty-week period due to the support of a large number of local businesses that are eager to participate.
